How to Properly Use Highlighter for a Radiant and Fresh Look
Step 1: Prep Your Skin
Before applying highlighter, cleanse your face and use a moisturizer. Then apply foundation and concealer as needed to even out your skin tone.
Step 2: Choose the Right Highlighter
Select a highlighter shade that matches your skin tone: champagne and golden tones for warm skin, pink and pearl tones for cool skin. Cream highlighters give a more natural glow, while powder ones provide a stronger effect.
Step 3: Apply to Key Areas
Highlighter should be applied to the parts of the face where light naturally hits:
- Top of the cheekbones
- Bridge of the nose (avoid the tip if you have oily skin)
- Cupid’s bow (above the lips)
- Inner corners of the eyes
- Brow bone (just under the eyebrows)
Step 4: Blend Carefully
Whether you use a brush, sponge, or fingers, it's important to blend the highlighter well into the skin. Harsh lines can look unnatural.
Step 5: Combine with Other Products
For a more intense glow, you can layer highlighter over blush or bronzer. Add layers as needed, but don’t overdo it – the goal is a natural radiance.
Step 6: Finishing Touch
If you’re using powder highlighter, finish your makeup with a setting spray to keep your glow fresh and long-lasting throughout the day.
